Hariphunchai Temple

Hariphunchai Temple or “Wat Phra That Hariphunchai “ in Thai word.

Hariphunchai Temple is a Buddhist temple (wat) in Lamphun, Thailand. The temple's origins date from the 11th century but the central stupa is thought to originate in the 9th century.

Wat Phra That Hariphunchai's earliest origins were in 897 when the then king of Hariphunchai is said to have built a stupa (now the central stupa) to house a hair of the Buddha. The present compound, founded by Hariphunchai King Athitayarai, dates from 1044.

Go to Wat Phra That Hariphunchai is easy. You can walk from the Lamphun Transport Station for about 15 minute. (Click picture below to find the route.)

It is Hariphunchai National Museum opposite.

Displays and exhibits include historical development and archaeological items found in Lamphun. These include prehistorical human skeletons and objects of arts from the Dvaravati, Hariphunchai, Lanna and Rattanakosin periods. A chamber in devoted to a collection of inscription stones in Mon and Lanna scripts. Another displays ancient utensils, Lanna indigenous arts and carvings.
The museum is open on Wednesday-Sunday from 8.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. The admission is 100 baht.

How to travel in Lampang with inexpensive minibus cost

First, I am sorry for my english. I just want to help tourist from any greedy minibus. Lampang is a province of Thailand (North of Thailand). There are many beautiful culture and places. Below is my shorts in Lampang.

I will show more pic in other post. In this post I will tell how to avoid to pay over price for minibus. Minibus in Lampang is show below.

If you are the foreigner or Thai tourist, they may offering expensive price.

How to get fair price

I know the price because I am a local person. Then please note that if it is about 10 km from the center, you can travel with other passengers for only 30THB. Then if it is not over 10 km and with other passenger doing below.

•  Do not asking for price. Just point to the picture of place and saying “Pai ti ni”. It means “Go to there”. Minibus with yellow or blue color will always travel around center of Lampang. See picture below. Red star is Lampnag Transport Staion that is the first place you are. Red circle is fair area for 30THB.

When you get into target, just pay them about 30THB.

Please note that if you are at Transport Station, you have to waiting until the bus is full within passengers. You can sitting on the bus and waiting.

If you are on the road and want to get minibus, just put your hand up when see minibus (yellow or blue minibus). Do not asking for price if it is around or near by red circle. Just point to the map or picture of the place and said “Pai ti ni” (Go to there). Pay them 30THB after get the place or near by.

Manao Bay (Ao Manao)

Manao Bay or “Ao Manao” in Thai. This place is in Prachuab Kiri Khan province, Thailand. I have travelled to Ao Manao on March 2014. This is beautiful place low cost of living and travelling. I like fresh and inexpensive sea foods.

Ao Manao was once a battlefield in World War II between the Thai and Japanese armies. It is a clean beach suitable for swimming. Opposite the beach stands Khao Lom Muak. At ebb tide, a long sand bar will appear. At the summit of Khao Lom Muak, there is a replica of the Buddha’s footprint. Moreover, at the foot of the mountain stands a shrine of Chaopho Khao Lom Muak.
I have climbed over the mountain “Khao Lom Muak” and took some shorts here.

You can renting for bicycle travel around. There are also some boats services too. The breach is clean. This bay is Military area. The shops and restaurants are mostly service from militaries families. This place is safe and quite. There are no bar or pub like others place. You could see the fisherman boats even at night.

  

You can see the line between islands that can walk some time.

How to go to Ao Manao Bay?

Form Bangkok, you can go to Ao Manao by train, bus. By train 1st class, it is about 300THB from Hua Lampong station, Bangkok.
You can living in militaries houses for reserving or some motels near by. There are motorcycle taxi and bicycle rental for you with low cost.
